Computing at Brightwell

Here at Brightwell Primary School we are very lucky as we have access to Interactive Alpha boards, iPads, Laptops and Desktop Computers.

We encourage the children to experience ICT through a variety of different topics and allow them the opportunity to share and develop their understanding.

We have a strong emphasis on E-Safety which is included in every Computing lesson and our PSHE lessons. As well as teaching E-Safety at school, we also encourage good practice at home.

We use these devices weekly in each class for a variety of reasons. Each class teaches cross-curricular ICT lessons and we take part in 'internet safety day' annually.

Coding is taught through either apps (in KS1) or by using Scratch and other websites in KS2. We run a Coding Club for KS2 children.

In all year groups we aim to develop ICT skills, building upon previous experiences and developing them further.

We also aim to introduce new experiences to help further their enjoyment of ICT, such as using animation, photography and programming.

Please see our current Curriculum Jigsaws on the class pages for further details of what the children are learning this term.
